Congratulations to Oxygen4Energy Sponsored Athlete, James "Lightning" Wilks, for winning the Welterweight Division of The Ultimate Fighter - Season 9!

Wilks had to win 3 fights on the show to get to the Welterweight finals where he faced Demarcus Johnson, the US fighter who many believed to be the early favorite to win it all.

During their time in the Ultimate Fighter house, Demarcus developed some animosity towards Wilks which helped build suspense for the fight.

The fight only lasted 1 round. Wilks started strong with some effective striking that seemed to hurt Johnson. Johnson retaliated with some effective strikes of his own that rocked Wilks temporarily, but had no major effect.

At about half way through the round, the fighters went to the ground where Wilks went for a foot lock that looked deep, but that Johnson was able to escape. Eventually, Wilks was able to get Johnson's back where he went for a rear naked choke. As time was running out in the round, Wilks was able to trap Johnson's arm which allowed him to get his arm really deep on the choke and eventually get a submission. By winning this fight, James is guaranteed a 6 Figure contract with the UFC.

In the past, many of The Ultimate Fighter Winners have moved on to have great careers in the UFC, and the same is expected out of Wilks.
