Congratulations to Oxygen4Energy Athlete, Melissa Garrett for being the Strongest Woman in America for 2010!
The 13th Annual North American Strongman/woman National Championships kicked off November 17th amongst the snow-capped scenery surrounding Reno, Nevada. The Women’s events took place on the chilly evening of Friday, November 19th where temperatures dipped into the 40’s as the competition continued well after the sunset.
The lower temperatures served only as an additional challenge to overcome as Garrett, the “Powerlifting Powerhouse” as dubbed by her peers, was able to dethrone the three-time defending champion, Kristen Rhodes, for the title of America’s Strongest Woman.
Ten women competed in the heavyweight division’s various events including, the 160 lb axel clean & press, the 80 foot truck pull, the 500 lb yoke, the 230 lb keg carry & 500 lb sled pull medley, and the 240 lb atlas stone over. Most of the events were decided by only fractions of a second as the Nashville, TN native was able to claim first place finishes in 4 of the 5 events.
Since beginning her powerlifting career in 2003 Garrett believes she has only begun to tap her potential, thanks in part to her use of Oxygen4Energy. According to Melissa, "It was a very close contest with my win coming by only one point. The oxygen from Oxygen4Energy played a vital role in my recovery between events and helped me overcome any potential adverse effects from the high altitude in Reno. Oxygen4Energy is part of my championship this year and will be in my future strength quests”
Just another dominant performance by an Oxygen4Energy athlete!
