Mountain Biking News: Krista Park qualifies for 2010 Marathon Worlds in Germany

Oxygen4energy sponsored athlete and pro mountain bike racer, Krista Park, just qualified to represent the United States at the 2010 Marathon Worlds in St. Wendal Germany in August. Her 3rd place finish at the Marathon National Championship in Breckenridge, CO solidified her position. Krista was in 2nd throughout half of the 50-mile mountain bike race, but on the top of the final long climb, Amy Dombroski was able to pass her and hold on to 2nd place, about 7 minutes behind the winner, Heather Irmiger.

Normally, downhill racing is the strongest part of Krista's arsenal, but with a recent arm injury, she has had to step up other parts of her game to make up for it. Hopefully, the injury will be fully healed by Worlds so that Krista can give a 100% effort as she competes against the best female mountain bikers in the sport.

Prior to Nationals, Krista had great finishes at the final Triple Crown event of the year in Massanutten, VA. In the Pro Super-D she placed 2nd, in the Pro Short Track she placed 3rd, and in the Pro Cross Country she placed 5th. These finishes secured a 2nd place finish in the Final Triple Crown Standings for 2010.

According to Krista, "I used my oxygen a lot at Marathon Nationals just to make sure my body felt fresh and recovered prior to the race. Since it was at such high altitude, I knew giving my body extra oxygen would be beneficial. I felt great coming in to the race and was really happy with my results. Going to Worlds was a major goal of mine this year and I'm happy to have qualified!"
