Oxygen4energy Sponsored Snowboarder, Nick Baumgartner, going to 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver

Jan 26, 2010 - Released by Gold Standard Sports

Snowboarder Nick Baumgartner will be representing the United States at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver as one of the four male athletes in the Snowboardcross (SBX) competition. Baumgartner, the 2009 World Championship bronze medalist, is joined by Nate Holland, Graham Watanabe and Seth Wescott to round out the US competitors.

Baumgartner set out to accomplish many goals, but none greater than competing at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games. "The first part of my dream came true when I got the call from Head Coach Peter Foley that I was heading to Vancouver," said the 28-year-old Baumgartner. "I can't even describe what it felt like to know that I'm part of the team. I'm thrilled to be among the athletes that embody what it is to be a true competitor and a proud American."

Baumgartner, an Iron River, MI native, hopes to capture more than just the experience in Vancouver, but come home with a gold medal when he hits Cypress Mountain, the location for all snowboarding events. Snowboardcross will be held on February 15, 2010.

"The second part of my dream is to be able to stand on the podium with a gold medal and the American flag." Baumgartner went on to say, "Nothing would be sweeter than to share that with the US fans and my family."

Baumgartner, who recently took Second at the Telluride World Cup and Third at the Veysonnaz World Cup, is currently in Aspen to compete in the Winter X Games 14. The SBX qualifying event is on Friday, January 29th with the final on Saturday, January 30th.

A pro snowboarder since 2004, the six-year rider has just inked multi-year exclusive endorsement deals with Bern Unlimited for protective helmets and the oxygen supplement company, Oxygen4Energy, under which Baumgartner will represent the brands in marketing, advertising and public relations campaigns.

"We are extremely excited to have Nick be part of the Oxygen4energy Team. Having a world-class snowboarder like Nick on board helps give recognition and credence to the benefits of oxygen in athletic performance," said Craig Inaba, President of Oxygen4Energy. "We are really excited to cheer him on in his quest for the Gold Medal this February!"

"Nick has long been a rider we admire and love to see race. We are honored to be a part of his Olympic journey and continued success in snowboarding," said Josh Walker, Bern Unlimited Team Marketing. "Nick is living proof that if you work hard enough you can achieve your dreams, no matter what hill you grow up riding. "
