ATV Racing News - Harold Goodman Question & Answer Session - Dec 2008
Harold "Bumble Bee" Goodman is a 2-Time ATV National Dirt Track Champion and 2008 Baja 1000 Championship Team Member
What are your goals for the 2009 Season? I hope to defend the Extreme Dirt Track title, help Wayne Matlock win another SCORE and Best in the Desert championship, and finish top five at the AMA Pro ATV Motocross races.
You're coming off 2 years in a row of being a National Champion… How do you stay motivated? I just enjoy the sport so much that I can’t help but work hard to stay on top.
Everyone is gunning for you this year… Have you made any changes to your training or ATV to help keep you on top? I have just been trying to push myself even harder during my training this off season. Also I have added Oxygen to my regimen which seems to help with my training.
What should the fans expect out of you this year? I hope to be more focused and determined to accomplish my goals.
What events are you most excited about? All of them. I have been racing for so long, and done so many different events that now I just get enjoyment out of going racing every weekend whether it’s a local race or the Baja 1000.
What is your favorite track? Red Bud, MI for Motocross and Ozark Mountain for EDT
What is your favorite event? Either the Montreal Supercross or the ATV Invitational at Steel City, PA
What was it like to be a 2008 Championship Team Member in the Baja 1000? It was great. I have raced that event many of times without a win. I'm glad to have finally be part of a winning team.
How does the Baja 1000 differ from the typical dirt track races you do? Actually, other than riding an ATV, the Baja 1000 and Dirt Track Racing are nothing alike. The skill set required is very different. The Baja 1000 is an endurance race that lasts for hours. In 2008, I believe it was over 20 hours. It makes for a long day. Also, I rode around 230 miles with over 5 hours of seat time, where an EDT race only last about 14 minutes depending on the size of the track. Another difference is that all of my typical races are on closed courses, where as the Baja 1000 is a desert race.
What made you decide to become a Sponsored Athlete with Oxygen4Energy.com? I like the product. Until I did some research this off season, I didn't consider oxygen necessary to my training or racing. But after researching and using the product, I am convinced that it makes me a better, faster rider.
Do you feel that the oxygen from Oxygen4Energy.com will help you perform better in competitions? Yes. It makes me a stronger, faster, more focused rider. I feel that the increased focus that I get will make me a safer rider as well. Oxygen also helps me recover fast better between motos.
Any tips for young, upcoming riders? Like anything else, practice is the most important. The more you ride, the faster you are going to be. Always ride within your ability. I have seen a lot of talented riders who pushed too hard and ended with so many injuries that they had to quit racing. It's better to stay healthy.
